Harrogate International Centre is an excellent venue, with a range of high-specification lecture theatres, a large exhibition hall and plenty of space for poster boards and networking. Its town centre location in the spa town of Harrogate means that excellent hotels, fantastic shopping, food and drink are nearby. Harrogate is a cosmopolitan destination whose history and heritage is clear to see as you walk around the elegant town.
Harrogate is centrally located in the UK halfway between London and Edinburgh with good transport connections.
- Leeds Bradford airport to Harrogate: 30 minutes via a bus link / 20 minutes by taxi
- Manchester international airport to Harrogate: 2 hours (hourly service) by rail
- There are good train connections to Harrogate - London to Harrogate by train: around 3 hours
- There are excellent motorway links from around the UK

Who should attend?
The SGM Spring Meeting will be the largest gathering of microbiologists in the UK in 2011. Delegates from all fields and at all stages of their career will find much to interest them. Conference grants are available to SGM Postgraduate Student Associate Members.
Accommodation: For this event, overnight accommodation is not available through the Society for General Microbiology. Further information will follow in Spring 2010.
Continuing Professional Development
This meeting has been approved for CPD by the Royal College of Pathologists and we shall also apply to the Institute of Biomedical Science. Forms will be available at the registration desk and should be completed daily by delegates. Certificates will be issued on departure from the Conference.
