The Aspergilli. Genomics, Medical Aspects, Biotechnology and Research Methods

G.H. Goldman & S.A. Osmani, Eds

CRC Press/Taylor & Francis Group (2008)

The book covers broad aspects of the biology of the aspergilli, reflected in the five topics into which the book is divided: Genomics, Basic biology, Medical aspects, Biotechnology aspects and Methods. The recent advances in genomics are clearly reflected through the whole book. The individual chapters are well-written, well-organized (with many very good figures and summary tables) and include recent data. Overall, this book is a very good volume, bringing together most of the relevant information about the aspergilli. However, the biotechnology section is somewhat weak as it only covers very few aspects of this area.

I recommend this book, and it should be mandatory for those new to this field. For scientists already in the field looking for an update or a new area of research, this book would also be an excellent starting point for getting an overview of the current state of the field.
