Plant Pathology Techniques & Protocols

Plant Pathology: Techniques and Protocols provides a collection of methods for the diagnosis and detection of plant pathogens. Although the majority of chapters are devoted to protocols on virology, from antibody production to serological and molecular methods of detection, the reader will also find specific chapters on serological and molecular detection of fungi, oomycetes and bacteria. In fact, the major contribution of the book is the detailed description of both traditional and most recent techniques currently used in diagnosis, so the book can also be used to troubleshoot particular techniques and adapt it to any organism of interest. The notes at the end of each chapter are of great utility since they give specific details on how to perform particular steps of a given protocol. It is a highly practical book and both students and researchers interested or working on detection and diagnosis will find it very useful. However, given that the book is devoted to diagnosis and detection of plant pathogens, I find the title a little misleading and it may not attract the targeted audience as efficiently as it could.
